The Chairman of the Council of the Holy Metropolis of Abkhazia, Archimandrite Dorotheos (Dbar) and the Secretary of the Council of HMA Germain Marchand took part in a scientific and practical seminar on the topic of “Abkhazian culture in the context of national security”. The seminar was organized by the Autonomous non-profit organization of “Center for Social and Economic Research”.

The director of the ANO CSER, Ph.D. Oleg Damenia, leading researcher of the Abkhazian Institute for Humanitarian Studies named after D. Gulia, Doctor of Theology, Archimandrite Dorotheos (Dbar), writer, public figure Daur Nachkebia, Secretary of HMA Council, theologian Germain Marchand were invited to the seminar as participants.

The first two parts of the seminar were held at the Center for Social and Economic Research”, in the city of Sukhum, the third one in the New Athos Monastery, and the final part was held on the territory of the cathedral church of the Blachernae Icon of Theotokos in the village of Agu-Bedia, Tkuarchal district. The seminar was held from 28 June to 11 August, 2022.

The seminar was held as follows: one of the participants of the seminar made a special report, then there was a discussion within the framework of a given topic. The reports and discussions were recorded on video for publication on the Internet.

In the first part of the seminar, the director of the ANO CSER Ph.D. Oleg Damenia made a report on the topic of “Abkhazian culture in the context of national security”. In the second part, the speaker was the writer, public figure Daur Nachkebia, who made a presentation on the “Phenomenon of Abkhazian culture”. In the third part of the seminar, the report on the “Culture of behavior in the mountains of Abkhazia” was made by the leading researcher of the Abkhazian Institute for Humanitarian Studies named after D. Gulia, Doctor of Theology, Archimandrite Dorotheos (Dbar). In the fourth and final part, the report “Faith in the Abkhazian culture in the context of transformational processes” was presented by the Secretary of HMA Council, theologian Germain Marchand.
