Altar cross from ruins of the Church of St. George in the village of Ankhua

Altar cross (copper) 26 × 16 cm, from ruins of the Church of St. George in the village of Ankhua, Gudauta region.

In November 2017, during the dismantling of the temporary shed over the ruins of the Сhurch of St. George, this cross was discovered near the throne. Probably, the cross and various reproductions of icons were brought by locals at the Memory Day of St. George. Before the beginning of 2000s, there was no temporary shed over the ruins of the Church of St. George, and there were no reproductions of icons or any church utensils.

Currently, this cross is kept in the Church-Archaeological Museum of HMA.
