THE POET AND TRANSLATOR MUSHNI LASURIA IS AWARDED WITH THE PATRIARCHAL LITERARY PRIZE

According to the Moscow Abkhaz Diaspora, Mushni Lasuria became a laureate of the Patriarchal Literary Prize named after Saints Cyril and Methodius.

On 20 May, a solemn ceremony of electing and awarding the laureates of the 10th anniversary season of the Patriarchal Literary Prize took place in the Hall of Church Councils of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. People’s poet of Abkhazia Mushni Lasuria became the laureate of the Patriarchal Literary Prize named after Saints Cyril and Methodius in the nomination “For Significant Contribution to the Development of Russian Literature.” On behalf of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Metropolitan Kliment of Kaluga and Borovsky gave the award to Mushni Lasuria.

The Patriarchal Literary Prize named after Saints Cyril and Methodius is an annual Russian literary prize established by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill. The prize promotes the development of interaction between the Russian Orthodox Church and the literary community. People’s poet Mushni Lasuria is an academician of the Academy of Sciences of Abkhazia, holder of «Ахьдз-Апша» order, one of the modern translators of the New Testament and other books of the Holy Scriptures into the Abkhaz language, head of the Association of Writers of the Republic of Abkhazia and the chief editor of the Abkhaz literary newspaper “Sozvezdie”.
