In June 2023, the icon of St. Great Martyr Panteleimon, made in the mosaic technique, was installed above the main gates of the Cathedral of the New Athos Monastery.
The decision to make a copy of the icon using the mosaic technique was made due to climatic conditions, because… With constant high atmospheric humidity, wooden icons placed in open spaces quickly deteriorate and become deformed.
The mosaic was handmade by the nuns Ripsime and Gayane, icon painters of the icon painting workshop at the New Athos Monastery.
