On 19-20 October, 2021 an international scientific conference named “The Caucasus and the Black Sea Region from Antiquity to the Late Middle Ages according to the New Data of Archeology and History” was held in the assembly hall of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Abkhazia and in the conference hall of the Abkhazian Institute for Humanitarian Researches named after I. D. Gulia ANA. The conference was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the outstanding Caucasian scientist, statesman and public figure Yuri Nikolaevich Voronov.
Chairman of the Council of the Holy Metropolis of Abkhazia, leading researcher of the Abkhazian Institute for Humanitarian Researches named after D. Gulia ANA, Doctor of Theology, Archimandrite Dorotheos (Dbar) made a report “Medieval altar barrier from the village of Ankhua: the discovery of a new fragment”.
In addition, Archimandrite Dorotheos (Dbar) and T.I. Shvedchikova, a researcher of the Department of Theory and Methodology of the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow), were moderators of the evening session of the second day of the conference.
