Ceramics from the ruins of a medieval temple on Mount Aquy (near New Athos)

On 11 December 2019, during the examination of the ruins of a medieval temple on Mount Aquy (near New Athos), it was found that on the east side unknown persons partially demolished the apse debris, various fragments of ceramics were thrown on it’s top, in a total there were 27 parts. 13 fragments of them are the fragments of a ceramic roof (tile). 10 fragments are supposedly also roof fragments.

Fragments of a roof from the ruins of the church in the village of Bzhylua (Ankhua, Gudauta district)

4 fragments of a roof made of limestone ashlar were discovered on 26 November 2018, during the cleansing of the ruins of a little-known medieval church No. 2 from vegetation in the village of Bzhylua, Ankhua, Gudauta district. The find is an archaeological rarity, because similar roofing elements have never been found before in the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia.
