On 23 May 2022, Memory Day of St. Apostle Simon the Canaanite, the Enlightener of Abkhazia was observed in the New Athos Monastery.
On this day, the Divine Liturgy took place in the monastery, it was held by Archimandrite Dorotheos (Dbar).
After the liturgy, the parishioners and pilgrims of the monastery took part in a litany (a procession with an icon around the cathedral church). During the procession, traditional Abkhaz pies with cheese ачашә were sanctified and distributed to all those present.
