In August 2023, the stone stairs of the Cathedral of Saint Great Martyr Panteleimon were restored.
After renovation and restoration works carried out at the New Athos Monastery in the mid of 2000s, the lower steps of the stone stairs were destroyed and temporarily replaced with wooden ramps.
Currently, the missing, destroyed steps of the two vestibules and the main entrance have been completely restored. Limestone slabs were used for the work, matching the original materials of the steps.
The restored steps are made in strict accordance with the architectural style of the New Athos Monastery.
