On 15 July 2022, in the business center of “Everest”, Sukhum, a round table was held on the topic “Protection of objects of historical and cultural heritage”. The round table was led by «Юристы Абхазии» (Lawyers of Abkhazia) organization Moderator – Oleg Papaskiri.

Two reports were presented at the round table, by Ruslan Chamyan and Dana Kudjba. Also, representatives of the department for the protection of the historical and cultural heritage of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Abkhazia, representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Abkhazia, deputies of the People’s Assembly, the Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia of various convocations, representatives of the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Administration of Sukhum and a number of other persons took part in the round table.

The chairman of the Council of the Holy Metropolis of Abkhazia, Doctor of Theology, leading researcher at the Abkhazian Institute for Humanitarian Researches named after D. Gulia lecturer at the Department of History, Archeology and Ethnology of Abkhazia, ASU, Archimandrite Dorotheos (Dbar) also took part in the round table.

The participants of the round table spoke about the problems which exist in the legislation of the Republic of Abkhazia in the field of protection of historical and cultural heritage and exchanged views on a number of other issues related to this topic.
