The article discusses the version of the origin of the hanging seal of the Byzantine type in the 11th century with an inscription in the Kartli (Georgian) language in the asomtavruli script, proposed in the works of V. Chkhaidze and E.K. Endoltseva. The seal was found in the sea, in the area of the southern Crimean coast (Sudak?) or in the waters of Taman. The above researchers are considering the possibility that the seal comes from a monastery in the village of Ankhua in Abkhazia. A number of significant remarks regarding such an interpretation of the inscription on the seal of the Byzantine type of the 11th century are presented in this article
