On 25 January, 2019 the second meeting of the Council of the Holy Metropolis of Abkhazia held in the monastery of St. Apostle Simon the Canaanite.
In the meeting took part: Archimandrite Dorotheos (Dbar), Hierodeacon David (Sarsania), Ruslan Pandaria, Mark Trapsh, Alkhas Tkhagushev, Miron Chalmaz, Dionis Yalanchidi; Council members also attended the meeting with an advisory vote: Akhra Argun and Teimuraz Dzidzaria. Absent: Arda Ashuba.
At the initiative of Alkhas Tkhagushev, the following issues were discussed at the meeting:
1. The initiative of Hierodeacon David (Sarsania) “to found an autonomous church community within the framework of ”;
2. The information discussed in the media and social networks about the participation of Archimandrite Dorotheos (Dbar), Chairman of the Council of HMA, as a candidate in the upcoming presidential elections in the Republic of Abkhazia.
Alkhas Tkhagushev, Temur Dzidzaria, Ruslan Pandaria, Miron Chalmaz, Akhra Argun, Mark Trapsh, Dionis Yalanchidi and Germain Marchand gave their opinions on these issues.
Some of the above members of the Council of HMA recommended Archimandrite Dorotheos (Dbar) not to nominate as a candidate in the upcoming presidential elections in the Republic of Abkhazia.
Then Archimandrite Dorotheos (Dbar) gave his opinion on both issues.
On the first issue, the Chairman of HMA Council explained the impossibility of creating a church community, it is a shortage of clergymen.
On the second issue, Archimandrite Dorotheos (Dbar) said that at the moment he is exploring the current crisis in the country and publishes his vision of ways out of the crisis on the HMA website and on social networks (five chapters of the article “Abkhazia What to do? ”have already published) and until the end of the study he is not going to tell about his decisions on the issue of participation in the presidential elections. The issue of transition of the Holy Metropolis of Abkhazia to budget planning was also discussed.
